In honor of International Women's Day, Maria Bartiromo shares hard-won wisdom on breaking barriers for women on Wall Street, and how she hopes her success in a male-dominated industry has helped to empower other women to walk more confidently today.
In January, I was energized in Davos during a conversation about women & empowerment. I was happy to hear about the #MeToo & #TimesUp movement and to be reminded to remember who you are and what you've done. Head up high.
It has been invigorating to see women of all ages and in all industries feeling more empowered than ever before. Empowered to speak out about equal pay and against wrong doing, empowered to tell their own personal stories, and most importantly, empowered to push back and say NO to any inappropriate behavior.
The newfound strength unfortunately has come on the backs of those who have taken the serious hits of mistreatment, whether sexual or otherwise inappropriate. If anything positive has come from the very serious and troubling stories of sexual harassment or worse, it has been this reminder of empowerment for women.
